Organisers have confirmed that the New Mills Community Festival will return in 2016 - bigger and better than ever.
While hailed as a major success, 2015’s festival took its toll on the small group of people running the event leading to uncertainty over its future.
But following a surge in volunteer numbers, the team feel re-energised, excited and planning has now begun for the 2016 edition.
Festival chairman Lyn Bannister said: “Offers of help have been coming in thick and fast and we’re delighted to be able to host New Mills Festival 2016.
“The festival is a spectacular community event.
“It brings a real buzz to the town and gives everyone an opportunity to get involved, and tens of thousands do.
“We’re all very much looking forward to another magical two weeks.”
Events will run from September 9-25, with a programme packed with variety and activities for all ages and interests.
Highlights will include foraging for fungi, chasing giant bubbles in High Lea Park, and lantern-making workshops.
The festival finale will be a magical evening parade of lanterns, designed around the festival theme of inventions, through the gorge beneath the town on September 24, and a street party afterwards with food from around the world.
Details of fundraising events will be published soon.
