AN Auction is to be held at New Mills Original on Saturday, June 23, before the town enjoys its popular carnival parade.

The auction will take place at 11am and its aim is to raise funds for the gallery so they can improve their workshop space and purchase new equipment to enable us to run more workshops for a wider audience including children.

There will be a wide selection of art works and services donated by the members to bid for including a session in a photography studio and two hours gardening by ex-National Trust employees.

Auction lots and more information can be found at www.newmillsoriginal.co.uk.

A Community Interest Company, New Mills Original, on Rock Mill Lane, was created to help local artists and crafts people establish themselves and bring original work to a wider audience at more affordable prices.

The Carnival procession starts at 1pm from the junction of High Street and Meal Street and makes its way through the town centre, finishing at Newtown Recreation Ground (behind Swizzels Matlow) where a variety of field activities including a Bird of Prey flying display, circus skills workshop and a giant inflatable assault course, will take place.
