Buxton Festival has announced the appointment of Randall Shannon as its Chief Executive.
He will take the reins following current Chief Executive Glyn Foley’s retirement in August 2012, after 14 years in post.
Mr Shannon brings a wealth of experience, having previously worked as an Arts Manager and Consultant to a variety of arts organisations and film and television companies, holding chief executive roles at Opera Northern Ireland, Opera Theatre Company (Dublin) and the Irish Chamber Orchestra.
He said: ‘I am thrilled to have been appointed Chief Executive at Buxton Festival, and look forward to the challenges of leading this wonderful organisation through its next phase of development.’
Dame Janet Smith, Chairman of Buxton Festival added, ‘We’re delighted to welcome Randall to the Festival team.
“He brings a host of interesting ideas for the future and we look forward to seeing how he will build on the success of the Festival.
“Randall’s tenure as Chief Executive follows an extremely successful fourteen year period with Glyn Foley at the helm.
“The Festival is now in a secure stable financial position, with a national reputation as a leading producer of unusual operatic repertoire, so it’s a very exciting time for us all.”
