New lifeline to help debt crisis

A new website has been launched to help people get advice when they need it.

People living or working in Derbyshire who need some advice on many issues such as debt, employment problems, housing or benefits concerns can now get quick access to advice online, by email an email link or search for drop-in centres in their area.

The website www.advicederbyshire.org has been set up by Advice Derbyshire, a partnership organisation for the Derbyshire Citizens Advice Bureaux, Chesterfield Law Centre and the Chesterfield Unemployment Workers’ Centre.

Kris Ambler, partnership manager, said: “This innovative new approach ensures that more people in Derbyshire are able to get access to the free, quality advice they need, even if they are unable to drop in to their local agency, or work during the day.

“Self-help guidance on the site and email enquiries are accessible 24-hours a day. In these tough times independent advice makes a real difference; it improves people’s chances and changes lives.”
