A High Peak hairdresser is releasing a calendar of Buxton hunks tomorrow (Saturday) in a bid to raise £1,000 for the homeless.
Nicky Land, of Nicky’s Hair Studio, will be donating the proceeds of The Naked Truth to High Peak Nightstop, which will be available from her Market Street salon, priced at £9.99.
The military-themed calendar features cage fighters, personal trainers and rugby players.
The New Mills mum explained: “I put an appeal on Facebook for models and had an overwhelming response. The lads were all amazing sports!”
The 37-year-old is no stranger to helping those living on the street, having launched Operation Christmas Miracle, which aimed to find a homeless person a home, last month.
As previously reported, she intended to pay a deposit and a month’s rent on a flat on London Road, Buxton, in order to “change one person’s world”.
But, unfortunately the campaign was abandoned after two unsuccessful attempts when recipients changed their minds and opted not to accept her help.
Instead, the money, food and clothing that was donated will be used to help those sleeping rough through her charity Helping Hands for a Better Future. She said: “I felt really disheartened, but I still want to help.”
On December 22, Nicky will be giving out Christmas stockings containing warm clothing, blankets, sleeping bags and sanitation packs, as well as hot Christmas pudding and custard to the homeless in Manchester.
If you would like to volunteer to help for the afternoon, contact Nicky at the shop on 01298 78800 or on 07854 031426. She is still accepting donations to the salon of hats, gloves and scarves.
