Mr David Roy Evans, known as Roy, of Bolsover, has died at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, aged 84. Born at Hale Barns, Cheshire and a resident of the local area for 45 years. He was educated at Stamford Park, Bradbury Central and Grimes College. He then worked in local government, initially for Hale UDC, Cheshire, moving to Bolsover in 1967 as deputy clerk and chief financial officer. He continued to serve the Bolsove rDistrict until his retirement in 1984. Mr Evans was a lifelong Methodist, he was a member of the Boys Brigade and Penand Camera Club. A keen photographer he was a member and past president of Bolsover Camera Club. His voluntary work included the Samaritans,Bolsover Disabled Club and Citizen’s Advice. He was a devoted husband, father and grandad. He leaves widow Rosamond (Ros), daughters Karen and Janice, son-in-law Chris and grandchildren Alastair, Katharine,Cameron,Huw and Patrick. The service is due to take place at Bolsover Methodist Church on Wednesday, December 5, at 11am, followed by cremation at Brimington Crematorium at 12.10pm.
