MP DAVID Rutley has been finding out more about the work of Kinder Mountain Rescue Team.
The Macclesfield MP joined the team on a search and rescue training exercise near Kinder Downfall to give his support to their work.
David, who is Vice Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Mountain Rescue, said: “Teams like the Kinder Mountain Rescue Team provide a vital service in our local communities.
“I was most impressed by their professional and highly organised approach to search and rescue exercises. ”
The 50-strong rescue team is made up of local volunteers who dedicate countless hours to their important work.
“They cover an area that includes the plateau of Kinder Scout, the highest point in the Peak District, and westward to the outskirts of Stockport,” said Mr Rutley.
“Their work can include everything from searching for missing hikers, fell runners or sheep, to assisting the police with urban searches.’
