Mountain Rescue Teams and four search dogs were deployed onto Kinder Scout late on Sunday, January 25.

A male hill walker, aged 28 years from Denton, Manchester, had set off from Kinder Reservoir to walk across Kinder Scout to the Snake Inn.

He became disorientated in the darkness and hill mist and tried to make his own way off the plateau, when assistance was requested.

Not knowing his precise location or navigational experience the pre-planned Kinder Scout Search Plan was activated, with mountain rescue teams from Kinder, Glossop,

Edale and Buxton tasked to search predetermined areas of Kinder Scout.

The missing walker did eventually arrive at the Snake Road, from where he thumbed a lift to the Ladybower Inn.

He was met there by some Edale Team members who were able to check on his wellbeing.

All team members were recovered from Kinder and returned home in the early hours of Monday morning.
