Supermarket giant Morrisons has applied to extend the opening hours of its two High Peak stores until midnight during the festive season.

The supermarket has applied to High Peak Borough Council for permission to open its Buxton and Chapel-en-le-Frith stores from 6am to midnight every day of the week, although it is unlikely it would open these hours on Sundays.

The Buxton store currently opens 7am to 9pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday, while the Chapel store is open from 8am-9pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

A spokesman said: “We want to make shopping trips easier for customers over the busy Christmas period.

“The application to extend our opening hours from 6am to midnight will mean shoppers can visit the store at a time to suit them.”
