A 23-year-old man was airlifted to hospital when his saloon car collided with an HGV near Buxton on Thursday.
The incident occurred at about 9.20am on the A515 in Pomeroy.
Firefighters from Buxton extricated the casualty from his vehicle and he was treated by the East Midlands Ambulance Service for a leg injury.
Once he had been administered pain relief, the man was flown to the trauma centre at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire in Stoke by Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance by 10.21am.
