Work? It's one big party here

IF you need a change from Christmas shopping, Derbyshire Wildlife Trust has the ideal alternative - volunteer work party their nature reserves.

Work parties are a chance for anyone interested in looking after their local environment to learn new skills and make new friends.

No experience is necessary – just bring sensible footwear and waterproof clothing, food and a drink.

Over the coming weeks work parties are planned as follows:

* Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 December: Chee Dale Nature Reserve. Meet at 9.30am at Miller's Dale car park.

* Sunday 6 December: Miller's Dale Quarry Nature Reserve. Meet at 9.30am at Miller's Dale car park.

* Tuesday 8 December: Ladybower Wood. Meet at the Ladybower Inn car park on the A57 by Ladybower Reservoir.

* Sunday 13 December: Rose End Meadows. Meet at 10am at St Mark's Close Cromford.

* Tuesday 15 and Sunday 20 December: Priestcliffe Lees Nature Reserve. Meet at 9.30am at Miller's Dale car park.

* Tuesday 22 December: Hopton Quarry Nature Reserve. Meet at 9.30am.

There is limited parking in the small layby mile south from the A5012 on the road to Hopton, grid ref SK262562.
