Woolies' new life

BUXTON'S empty Woolworths store is set to reopen as a new branch of Mountain Warehouse.

The outdoor equipment provider, which has over 60 stores across the UK, is close to concluding a deal which will see it take over the occupancy of the prominent Spring Gardens shop.

Around ten full and part-time jobs would be created by the company, which sells products for a range of outdoor activities including hiking, travelling, skiing, camping and cycling.

Managing Director Mark Neale said: "I think Buxton is a good outdoors town.

"We have just taken over the Woolworths in Keswick, in the Lake District, which reopened a week ago, and that has been a fantastic success, so we see Buxton as a similar profile."

The Buxton store is expected to open next month.
