Woman denies assault at scene of Buxton stabbing

The girlfriend of the man accused of attempted murder following the Buxton stabbing on New Year’s Day has appeared in court charged with assault.

Jacqueline Poole is accused of attacking Abbie Burnham at the scene of stabbing at about 1.30am on January 1 on Charles Street.

The 22-year-old’s boyfriend, Liam Turner, who faces a charge of attempting to murder Connor Johnson, Ms Burnham’s boyfriend, will appear at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday. Both defendants appeared at Chesterfield Magistrates’ Court, on January 3.

At High Peak Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Poole, of Lightwood Road, Buxton, pleaded not guilty to assault and will face trial on February 26.
