Whaley's toilets are unacceptable
WHALEY Bridge's public toilets are going down the pan, according to town councillors.
The poor condition of the Market Street conveniences was discussed at a recent meeting of Whaley Bridge Town Council.
The authority also wrote to High Peak Borough Council to highlight the inadequate lighting, dirty floors and appalling condition of the toilets, and demanded they be brought up to an acceptable standard ahead of the tourist season.
Cllr John Haken, the Executive Member for the Environment, responded to town councillors' concerns at their April meeting last week, stating the toilets would be cleaned and that a report was to be prepared into their current condition.
* Whaley Bridge and Furness Vale residents are being invited to raise any concerns they have about the community with their Safer Neighbourhood team.
A meeting will be held on Wednesday April 22, at the Mechanics Institute between 7pm and 9pm, for local people, partner organisations, businesses and community representatives to discuss and decide upon policing priorities for the area.
There will also be a chance to meet local officers and receive an update on what they have been targeting during previous months.
