YOUNGSTERS are being invited to take part in Whaley Bridge’s Rose Queen Festival.

Organisers of the traditional event, which dates back to 1914, are now looking for youngsters aged between three and 18 to form this year’s carnival retinue.

A selection event will take place at Whaley Bridge Bowling Club on Sunday, February 10 at 2pm. Positions available include: Festival Rose Queen, Junior Queen, Princess, Rosebud, Petal, Page Boy or attendant. To be eligible, children must live in Whaley Bridge, Horwich End, Taxal, Fernilee, Furness Vale, Buxworth, Tunstead Milton or Combs.

All local schools have entry forms and information is also available online at www.rosequeen.co.uk or on Facebook.
