Village bank set to close

NATWEST has announced its branch in Disley is to close – leaving just one bank left in the village.

Bank bosses said the branch, on Fountain Square, will shut on April 11 as a result of low demand from customers.

The closure will leave Disley with just one bank, the Royal Bank of Scotland, on Buxton Road West.

An RBS spokesman said: “Customer demand has fallen at our Disley branch over the last 12 months and we have taken the difficult decision to close it.

“We have advised staff and will be helping our customers to make alternative arrangements.”

The nearest NatWest bank will be almost two miles away in New Mills.
