VIDEO: Crowds flock to biggest Buxton Carnival for years

ONE OF the biggest and best carnivals seen for many years took to the streets of Buxton on Saturday.

With a spectacular dinosaur, an abundance of colourful imaginative floats and fantastic costumes, it was clear to see what a huge effort had been put in by all those taking part.

There were two Chinese dragons, Ghostbusters, a circus, an olympic float, a pirate ship as well as floats inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Around World in 80 Days.

For the first time in many years the parade included a float created by children from Fairfield Nursery School, helped by pupils at the infant school and the wider community.

An array of bands, carnival royalty and the Billerettes ensured there was plenty of variety in the large procession, and even the weather stayed dry for the parade!
