Sixteen members of the joint Buxton and Edale Teams Snatch Squad were called to the Grouse Inn, late on Friday morning.

A lady in her late 50s was walking with a U3A group from Sheffield when she suffered a medical collapse, on White Edge, Big Moor near Froggatt. She was treated on site by team and Helimed doctors and airlifted to the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, for treatment.

Later in the afternoon 25 members of the joint Buxton and Edale Teams Snatch Squad were called to Mam Nick Car Park and Chapel Gate, following a report of an injured walker, thought to be on Rushop Edge. The location was later changed to The Tipps Car Park, near Edale when the position of the casualties was made clearer.

A 44-year-old man from Urmston, Manchester, had suffered lacerations to a leg from a buried broken bottle when he sank into a peat bog near to Brown Knoll.

He was treated on site by a Edale team paramedic, packaged and placed onto a stretcher. Team members evacuated him via Edale Cross, Jacobs Ladder, arriving at The Tipps Car Park in the dark.

He was then transferred to the waiting land ambulance and taken to Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport, for treatment.
