SHE HAS survived two world wars, lived under five monarchs and seen the occupancy at Downing Street change a remarkable 24 times...
Last week New Mills stalwart Nora Hill celebrated her 103rd birthday with family and friends.
Nora was born on October 31, 1909, the youngest of five siblings, and has lived in New Mills all her life.
A housewife by occupation, she married her late husband Colin Hill, a bank manager, in 1936.
She has a son Michael, four nieces, eight great nieces and nephews and 12 great-great nieces and nephews.
Asked what was the secret of her long life, Nora replied: “Taking one day at a time.”
Nora currently resides at Watford House, having previously lived on Marsh Lane and Low Leighton Road.
