Buxton’s James Spence is appealing for help as he aims to enjoy the trip of a lifetime.
The 20-year-old, who is currently studying aerospace engineering, astronautics and space technology, is hoping to win a trip into space through a competition run by the deodorant brand Lynx.
Entrants for the Lynx Space Academy have to earn enough votes to be in the top 200 by the end of April in order to get through to the next round of the competition.
Former Buxton Community School pupil James is currently sitting just outside the top 200 and is calling for local residents to vote for him so he can get through.
The next round would see him put through his paces at a training camp in London, where if successful, he would have the chance to go to Florida to a global space camp.
He said: “Space is a big part of my life already because of what I’m studying so this would be a great opportunity for me to get out there and see that environment.”
To vote for James, see Get Spence in Space on Facebook, or visit his Twitter account @JameSpenc3. The voting deadline is April 30.
