Strike action set to close some High Peak schools

Many schools across the High Peak are to be closed or partially closed tomorrow (Wednesday) as teachers take part in a one-day strike.

Members of the National Union of Teachers are walking out in protest at excessive workloads, performance related pay and unfair pension changes.

Some of the schools affected include:

Buxton Community School - open to years ten to 13 only.

Chapel-en-le-Frith High School - open as usual for most students but students in groups one, two, three and four in the Learning Support Department should not attend.

St Anne’s Primary Buxton - closed to Reception - Mrs Carr; Reception/year one - Mrs Knight; Year two - Mrs Howard (Due to PPA cover); Year five - Mrs Trotter; Year five/six - Mr Winston and Year six - Mrs Hughes but open to all other classes.

Newtown Primary School, New Mills - closed to classes one, three and four but open to class 2.

Buxton Junior School - open to classes two, four and five as normal, open to class six at 12.05pm but closed to classes one, three and seven.

Bishop Pursglove Primary School, Tideswell - open to all children.

Burbage Primary School, Buxton - closed to children in Ms Ling’s, Miss Gould’s, Mr Newton’s, Mrs Bailey’s, and Miss Milling’s classes.
