It was launched following the news that Derbyshire County Council and North Derbyshire Clincial Commissioning Group (CCG) are looking to introduce Better Care Closer to Home which if it goes through would impact on both the Spencer and Fenton wards.

It was created on July 15 and only has 1.300 signatures.

Reverend John Hudghton speaking on the Facebook group Save Cavendish Hospital Wards said: “I have been reliably informed that consultation responses are far more valuable than anything else in making our point. Please do the petition indeed but also ensure you fill in a consultation response form.”

Dr Ben Milton, the chairman of North Derbyshire CCG and a GP in Darley Dale, echoed this sentiment and said: “It is vital that we listen to your views and we urge everyone to have their say.”

Cavendish Hospital could lose its ten specialist mental health beds on the Spencer Ward eight community beds on Fenton Ward could become specialist rehabilitation beds and across the county there would be 44 Beds With Care in nursing or residential homes to replace the other eight.

The consultation is open until Wednesday, October 5 Click here to fill in the consultation.
