Police are urging Bakewell residents to be extra vigilant following an unusual sneak-in burglary in the town.
Last Saturday, December 28, between 8.30pm and 11.30pm, an offender gained entry to a house on North Church Street via the back door and stole cash and a handbag containing a purse and bank cards.
PCSO Hayley Grundy from the Bakewell Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “Burglaries like this are unusual in Bakewell so we would like to encourage residents to take extra steps to protect themselves from becoming a victim of crime.
“Making sure that windows and doors are secure, even when you are in, and using ‘dusk til dawn’ light bulbs, timers and door chimes will really help to deter a criminal. We will be heading out on extra patrols in the area to reassure residents.”
Any witnesses to the incident should call Derbyshire Police on 101.
