Sessions to help combat malnutrition in OAPs
HIGH Peak carers can benefit from a free adult education class run by Derbyshire County Council to help them tackle malnutrition among older people.
They are one-off, three-hour classes that can be attended by anyone who thinks they could help an older friend, neighbour or relative who has lost weight but struggles with a small appetite.
A county council spokesman said: “People who sign up can look forward to food demonstrations, menu plans and cooking tips.
“It will help people spot the symptoms of malnutrition, learn why it’s a problem and hear about strategies to tackle it.”
The sessions take place at Hurst Farm Community Centre, Hurst Rise, Matlock, between 6pm and 9pm on Wednesday, February 6.

Another session will take place at Gamesley Community Centre, Melandra Castle Road, Gamesley, Glossop, from 6pm to 9pm on Wednesday, February 13.

Data shows there are about three million elderly people in the UK who are malnourished.
