Scouts help at OAPs' party

THE ANNUAL Wright Turner Party for the over-60s has taken place in Hayfield.

Celebrated for over a century, the event was held at St Matthew's Church Hall.

High Peak Mayor and Mayoress, Robin and Linda Baldry, High Peak MP Tom Levitt and Hayfield May Queen royalty were in attendance.

Entertainment was provided by Hazel Grove Brass Band.

The party is held in memory of Wright Turner, a former Hayfield man who became Mayor of Sheffield. He held a party for the over-60s every year and left a bequest so that the parties could continue after his death.
