More than 60 Santas went dashing through Buxton’s Pavilion Gardens to raise money for a local good cause.

Participants donned the traditional red and white outfit to walk, run or jog the one mile course around the park to raise money for Blythe House Hospice in Chapel-en-le-Frith.

The race began with the words ‘ready, set, ho ho ho’ and the first Santa sped round the course in less than ten minutes. With more Santa’s taking part in the event than ever before, Blythe House is hoping to smash last year’s fundraising total of £1,200 from the Santa Dash.

Laura Sutton, Blythe House Hospice Event Co-ordinator, said: “With the busiest year ever, we were thrilled with how many people entered into the Christmas spirit and supported Blythe House. It was magical to see so many santas and reindeers dashing around the Pavilion Gardens at the same time as raising money for the hospice.” To sponsor any of the dashers, or for information about next year’s dash or other upcoming events, contact the hospice on 01298 815388 or email fundraising@blythehouse.co.uk.
