Police are putting the brakes on speeding motorists in the Hope Valley.
In agreement with local residents, the Hope Valley policing team has set the issue as a priority, following a recent Safer Neighbourhood governance meeting.
Officers will team up with members of the public to carry out Community Speed Watch events in Castleton, Hope and Bamford over the next three months to monitor the speed of drivers in the area.
Police will also be chatting to motorists about the importance of sticking to the law on the roads and issuing warnings or fines to anyone breaking the limit.
Following the meeting, the team will continue to focus on the issue of theft from motor vehicles by increasing patrols in problem areas and issuing vehicle security advice and crime prevention tips.
This includes parking in well-lit areas, removing valuables from their vehicles and ensuring doors and windows are secure.
Motorists will be urged to register valuables at www.immobilise.com, which helps reunite owners with stolen goods which are recovered.
