Police hunt for trespassers in Whaley Bridge

Police will be increasing patrols around a disused High Peak school after a group of youths were seen trespassing on its grounds.

The group, thought to be aged around 15 and 16, were seen in the grounds of Taxal Lodge, on Linglongs Road, Whaley Bridge on the afternoon of Saturday, March 2.

Residents living near the school reported seeing the group in the derelict building, which was formerly a school and had previously been fire damaged.

PCSO Tracy Jones, from Whaley Bridge Safer Neighbourhood Team, said patrols would be increased to try and catch the youths trespassing at the building.

She said: “The first concern we have is for the safety of those who are trespassing on the grounds, as it’s a derelict building that has some fire damage, so these children could be putting themselves at risk.

“This kind of behaviour is unfair on people living nearby, who are having to suffer anti-social activity right on their doorsteps.

“It’s also private property, and any damage caused to the building by trespassers could land them in trouble.

“We will be on the lookout for any trespassers or anyone taking part in anti-social behaviour in the area to help keep our community safe.”

If you see anyone trespassing on the Taxal Lodge grounds or if you want to report incidents of anti-social behaviour or crime, call Derbyshire police on 101.

You can also call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
