Police appeal for witnesses after 'serious' assault in Buxton

Officers investigating a serious assault in Buxton have appealed for witnesses to contact them.

Police were called at 3.20pm yesterday afternoon (Sunday, July 24) to Spring Gardens where a 52-year-old local man was being treated by paramedics.

He had allegedly been assaulted on Concert Place and again on the Market Place.

He suffered serious arm injuries and was taken to Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport where he underwent surgery.

A 35-year-old local man, who is known to the victim, was arrested a short time later and remains in police custody.
