MEMBERS of the High Peak and Hope Valley’s Mountain Rescue Teams have been helping out with the search for missing five-year-old April Jones.
Personnel from the Kinder, Edale and Buxton teams have all travelled to Machynlleth in mid Wales to help look for April, who went missing while playing outside her home on October 1. Both the Edale and Buxton teams sent search dogs and their handlers to help with the search.
Ken Blakeman, chairman of Kinder Mountain Rescue Team, said: “It was a very emotional weekend.
“It really got to us - the fact we were looking for such a young and possibly deceased person.
“The community in Machynlleth was absolutely phenomenal, just wonderful.

“We met lots of people wearing pink ribbons - April’s favourite colour - and they brought us hot drinks and food.”
Mountain Rescue England and Wales said: “Over the last week, the unpaid professionals of Mountain Rescue England and Wales have contributed an estimated 9250 man hours to the search for April.
“To put that into context, this would take one person well over five working years.”
l Mark Bridger, 46, has been charged with murder, attempting to pervert the course of justice and child abduction.
