Glossop and Kinder mountain rescue teams took part in an unusual call out in Disley recently, to save a 12-foot Pride and Prejudice character.

The volunteers helped remove the Mr Darcy sculpture from the lake in Lyme Park, where he famously met Miss Bennet in the 1995 BBC production of the Jane Austen classic.

The National Trust installed the aloof romantic hero in July to mark the novel’s 200th anniversary.
