More help needed in Whaley

Whaley Bridge’s community spirit is backing a new group which had taken on the challenge of organising the annual Fireworks Display.

Already people have offered help and assistance while the local schools are organising a lantern procession, but more help is needed.

Lor Cole, who chairs the organising group, said: “We’re delighted with the offers of help, but we still need more. Anyone with experience of making lanterns, and people with stewarding skills are needed.”

Fabulous Fireworks will take place on Friday, November 2. The Lantern Parade from Taxal and Fernilee Primary School to Whaley Bridge Primary School arrives at the Bowling Club at 5.30pm. Children who want to make a lantern are invited to workshops from 2pm-4pm and 4pm-6pm in the Mechanics’ Institute on Saturday 27 October.

If you would like to help, contact Keith Hufton on 0777 555 1952or Lor Cole, chairman, on 07724 103 964.
