A public meeting on plans which could see High Peak residents having to travel to Manchester for emergency surgery is taking place in Buxton next month.
Under the Healthier Together initiative, emergency and high risk surgery will be centralised into four or five specialist hospitals, which may not include Stockport’s Stepping Hill Hospital.
This would mean High Peak patients needing emergency attention would be taken to Wythenshawe Hospital in South Manchester.
The meeting takes place at the Octagon, in the Pavilion Gardens, on Monday September 15, from 6pm to 8.30pm.
To find out more about the consultation, see www.healthiertogethergm.nhs.uk, or call 0800 888 6789. The consultation closes on September 28.
