Former Whaley Bridge resident Marjorie Walton celebrated her 100th birthday last week.
She lived in Goyt Road, Horwich End, for 50 years before going to live with her daughter in North Yorkshire in 2008. Marjorie worked locally at Britannia Wire Works and Bernard Wardle Fabrics.
A keen traveller, Marjorie flew on Concorde in the 1980s. She received the freedom of New Mills Swimming Pool at the age of 90. She enjoyed her time at Eccles Fold Day Centre and another of her favourite haunts was Footsteps in Whaley Bridge.
