Man who died in A6 Buxton Road crash is named

A man who died in a car crash on the A6 Buxton Road has been named.

The man, named by police as Philip Clayton, aged 43, died at the scene of the collision, in Hazel Grove, at 4pm on Sunday, April 24.

Police, fire and ambulance crews attended the incident and found a Mini had collided head-on with a Volvo.

A 23-year-old man was also taken to hospital where he remains in critical condition.

A man and a woman were also taken to hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries.

Buxton Road was closed but has since reopened.

PC Phil Turley from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This has been a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the family of Phillip who has sadly passed away.

“We are continuing to appeal for anyone who may have seen the incident or have any information to contact police.”

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the collision to contact police as soon as possible on 0161 856 4745, 101, or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
