Lani’s livery brightens up bin day
High Peak residents may have noticed a dazzling new design on the side of waste collection vehicles servicing the borough.
The colourful and striking design was created by nine-year-old Lani Mantle, of Buxworth Primary School, and selected by a panel of judges from over 100 entries.
The judges, High Peak borough councillor Anthony McKeown, representatives from Veolia Environmental Services and council officers were unanimous in their praise of Lani’s design.
Cllr McKeown said: “Lani’s entry is delightful and illustrates the kerbside recycling service perfectly; we particularly liked the green hills that Lani had drawn depicting the picturesque location of the borough.’
As part of the prize Lani’s class was treated to a trip to Veolia Environmental Services’ state of the art recycling facility in Liverpool. They enjoyed a tour of the facility and discovered how recycling collected from their household is sorted and processed for recycling.
The competition was held to promote an improved kerbside recycling service that started in July.
