King Damian reigns despite a downpour
THE PEOPLE of Dove Holes refused to let the wet weather spoil their day as they enjoyed their village carnival last weekend.
In keeping with tradition, the carnival was packed with competitions as well as the main procession of floats.
Nineteen-year-old Damian Moss was crowned Dove Holes Carnival King 2010 — a week before he leaves the village to join the Navy.
Organiser Sally Tideswell said: "It was a brilliant day despite the weather. When we set off it was the worst moment because it was pouring down but everybody just kept smiling even though we were all soaked to the skin.
"The washout meant that we didn't get the turnout we had hoped for but for those who choose to brave the weather it was a brilliant day enjoyed by all."
The carnival saw an impressive array of floats with the prize for best float going to Dove Holes Playgroup for their Willy Wonka and his chocolate factory design. Results:
