A COMBS woman has spoken of her joy at receiving a letter from the Queen.

Doreen Norley, 78, saw the royal when she visited Macclesfield more than 60 years ago.

Mrs Norley found a picture of the special occasion when she was looking through a family photo album and decided to send the treasured snap to the Queen.

Last week she received a thank-you letter from Her Majesty who said she was “delighted” to see the picture.

Mrs Norley said: “It’s not every day you get a letter from the Queen – I was thrilled.”
