It's a crime not to read!
A GROUP of youngsters are on the trail of some little-known facts about the county's written past.
The Reading Detectives are all members of reading projects based at Buxton library and are one of give groups taking part in a new national reading and literature project.
Throughout August and September, the group will be delving into literary gems inspired by their local landscape and history and will be writing about the discoveries on the website www.readingdetectives.org.
Crime author Stephen Booth, who sets many of his books in Derbyshire, was at the group's first meeting in July.
The five groups, including teams from Cumbria, Hampshire, Kent and Lancashire, will be competing against each, other drawing on the expertise of their librarian and others including historians, booksellers, publishers, archivists and other literature specialists.
All five teams will be followed and have their activity documented by local BBC radio stations with any exciting finds potentially developing into news stories.
Each team will host a project finale to unveil the findings of their detective trail with a display plus readings of the writers and titles they have found.
