Hope Valley College
HOPE Valley College held a music concert night as part of its ongoing 50th anniversary celebrations.
Six bands performed a range of music including Rhythm and Blues, Pop, Punk, New Romantic, Indie and Soul. One band comprised entirely of parents, another entirely of teachers.
* The college's wind band and choir has treated an audience to a night of music from the screen and stage. A range of film theme tunes were played including Wallace and Gromit and Indiana Jones. Music from the stage was also showcased, including hits from Les Miserables, which will be the college's annual musical in April.
The evening featured solos from Danny Wallington on piano and Jack Parrot on cornet. Andrew Randall and Ginny Kerr performed solos of songs from Les Miserables, while Anna Wright gave a solo of 'I feel Pretty' from West Side Story.
* Students of all ages were recently treated to a Spanish Pantomime by A-Level Spanish students from fellow Peak 11 School Highfield's in Matlock. The youngsters, who are studying extra-curricular Spanish, observed Highfield students deliver 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' – entirely in Spanish.
The performance was followed by a discussion about foreign languages over traditional Spanish tapas.
* Students have returned from a successful ski trip in Davos, Switzerland, where they spent six days learning to ski and developing their skills.
