Representatives from throughout the High Peak attended the High Sheriff of Derbyshire’s legal service at Derby Cathedral.
Those present included Cllr Dave Wilcox, chair of Derbyshire County Council, Hilary Batterbee, chair of High Peak Magistrates bench, Cllr Jocelyn Street and Martin Street, Chapel-en-le-Frith, and Edmund Bradbury and Cllr Nigel Bradbury, also of Chapel-en-le-Frith. The congregation was welcomed by the Dean of Derbyshire, the Very Rev Dr John Davies and the Bishop of Derby, Rt Rev Dr Alastair Redfern also participated.
The High Sheriff, in his prologue which had the theme unsung heroes, highlighted the valuable work undertaken by volunteers throughout Derbyshire. The sermon was preached by Rev David Mouncer, the High Sheriff’s chaplain.
