High Peak children in trade fair event

High Peak school children are taking part in a trade fair at Buxton’s Spring Gardens Shopping Centre this week.

The fair, which is being co-ordinated by the west Derbyshire branch of the education charity Young Enterprise, is on Wednesday March 13 and will see six teams of students, aged between 14 and 17, showcasing a variety of goods including handmade and locally sourced items.

Shoppers will be able to buy the items and the teams will be put through their paces by a panel of judges, made up of business leaders and advisors from local companies.

Charlotte Wright from Young Enterprise Derbyshire said: “The scheme is designed to give youngsters an insight into business and to inspire them to ‘learn by doing’.”

The event is from 9am to 5.30pm.
