Helping improve Memorial Park

EXTRA floral areas and improvements to the football pitch and children's play area are just some of the plans in the pipeline for Chapel-en-le-Frith Memorial Park.

A new Friends of Chapel Park group has been formed to make improvements to the park.

Suggestions put forward at the group's meetings include new signs on the main gates reminding users about littering and dog fouling, a new basketball net and an interpretation board by the main gate.

Other long term ideas include extra floral areas, improving the football pitch for junior football teams, new equipment for the children's play area and a new bandstand.

Chapel-en-le-Frith Town Band will hold concerts in the park on July 5, from 1pm to 3pm, and on September 27, from 3pm and 4pm, which will be part of the national Band Stand Marathon.

The next Friends group meeting takes place on July 6 at the Town Hall Annex at 7pm.
