'˜He always had a smile on his face' '“ tributes paid to Buxton biker Mark Young

Tributes have been paid to a much-loved Buxton motorcyclist who died doing what he loved.

Mark Young, 50, was riding his green Kawasaki motorbike in the Peak District last Thursday when he was in collision with a Jaguar car.

The keen biker, of Monsal Avenue, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Young had a son, Alex, 22, a daughter, Nicole, 24, and a 22-month-old granddaughter, Gracie-Mae.

Claire Hill, his ex-wife, said: “He was cheeky, always making a joke and always had a smile on his face.

“If there was a party, you’d definitely know Mark was there.

“He always worked hard to provide for his kids.

“Mark absolutely adored his family and his family absolutely adored him.

“We’ve all got so many happy memories of him.

“We’re all so shocked about what’s happened – it’s all so surreal.

“Mark will be very sorely missed.”

Claire told how biking was Mr Young’s ‘number one passion’ and an interest he had loved since childhood.

She said: “He’d finished work early last Thursday, it was a lovely, sunny day and he decided to go for a ride.

“Mark always said that if anything ever happened to him on his bike he’d have been doing what he loved.

“He was a very experienced motorcyclist and rode responsibly.”

HGV driver Mr Young was born in Buxton and lived in the town for most of his life.

Claire – who was married to Mr Young for 24 years – said the family would like to thank the people of Buxton for their support following the tragedy.

Police said the collision happened on Main Road in Bradwell at the junction with Gore Lane at about 4.15pm last Thursday.

Witnesses or anyone with information about the collision should call DC Darren Parkin on 101, quoting incident number 472 of May 6.

Mr Young’s inquest is expected to open at Chesterfield coroners’ court on Thursday.

Paying tribute on the Buxton Advertiser’s Facebook page, Sallyanne Ellena said: “RIP Mark. Your smile and presence could radiate a room. You will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing you. Thoughts are with your family at this sad time.”

Fred Smith said: “Only saw him with a smile on his face. RIP Mark.”

Linda Lewis said: “So sad. Such a great lad.”

John Hudghton said: “Very sad. Condolences from a fellow biker.”
