Have your say on children’s centres

Time is running out for High Peak residents to have their say on a review of children’s centres.

Derbyshire County Council is asking locals for their views on a number of proposals, including closing up to seven centres across the county, as part of a plan to save £1.1 million.

Options being considered include: charging parents for using children’s centres; charging organisations for using the buildings; reducing staffing levels; closing some centres and only offering services which are not already available elsewhere through the voluntary, community and independent sector.

There are currently 54 children’s centres across Derbyshire, including in Bakewell, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Fairfield, Gamesley, Glossop, Hadfield, Harpur Hill and New Mills.

To have your say on the review, visit www.derbyshire.gov.uk/ccreview. The consultation closes on June 17.
