Glossop Volunteer Centre has raised £850 for its Community Companions project thanks to a Grand Balloon Race from Glossop North End football ground.

The sky above the Arthur Goldthorpe Stadium, on Surrey Street, was filled with multi-coloured balloons, each carrying a name card.

The owner of the balloon that has travelled the furthest by February 1 will win a Google Nexus seven-inch tablet worth £200, donated by IT company Myson Pages.
