From a railway to a bridleway

THE TRANS Pennine Trail and Penine Bridleway is to receive £30,000 of funding from Derbyshire County Council.

The money will be used to buy Gamesley Sidings to complete the development of the trail and bridleway.

It is one of eight projects to improve the countryside set to benefit from funding worth 139,500 from Derbyshire County Council.

Ian Stephenson, strategic director of environmental services, said: "This money will help to make lots of improvements throughout Derbyshire. And by providing 139,500 of funding from the council we bring in a further 500,000 from other sources."

Among those receiving funding is the Peak District National Park who will receive 20,000 for access improvement work within the park.
