CHAPEL-EN-LE-FRITH Parish Council has donated £300 towards improvements at the town's railway station.

It will help towards planned improvements which include new planters for the platforms, explained John Brook, Chairman of the Friends of Chapel Station.

"We very much appreciate the help from the Chapel Gardening Club and support from Paul Carrington of Chapel DIY, and we have many interesting projects in the pipeline," he said

Cllr Martin added: "The Friends have created a great improvement in such a short time with new flower beds, painting of gates and hanging baskets, and have been instrumental in pressing for repairs to the car park lights and the installation of the CCTV system."
