ST THOMAS More School's budding scientists have been awarded trophies and prizes.

Dr Rob Wybrow from Chapel-en-le-Frith's Peakdale Molecular awarded them to year nine pupils who have made the greatest progress in science since year seven.

Shannon Belfield won the Peakdale Molecular Trophy and Amazon vouchers after showing "incredible progress" over three years.

Runners up Leah Mellor, Joel Frohwein and Edoardo Giglio made "excellent progress" and won WHSmith vouchers.

The school congratulated the pupils and thanked Peakdale Molecular for its support over the years.
