A Spitfire flypast on Sunday marked the start of a week of fun in Tideswell as the village holds its annual Wakes event.
The fun culminates this Saturday, carnival day, which will also feature a flypast, this time from a 1944 Hawker Hurricane at 2.15pm, to mark the beginning of the carnival parade.
The procession, which begins at 3pm, will feature Tideswell Band as well as a variety of floats and foot characters.
Later in the day, the fun continues with a live band at The George Hotel, a queen’s arena at the Old Grammar School and the torchlight procession at 9.45pm.
On Sunday morning, there will be a cafe style church service at 10.30am, followed by a Churches Together open air service at the main well at 2pm, and the Off to the Circus Grand Wakes finale at the Horse and Jockey from 3pm to 6pm.
